[00:00:00]: Hello and welcome to the top 10 things you, yes, you should be doing to promote your business. I am Christine Blasdell. I am your expert authority coach. All of my programs that I have, all my coaching programs, my mastermind, all of that information can be found@christineblasdale.com and I'm really excited that you're here today because we're going to talk about those top 10 things. Some of the things are going to be stuff that maybe you thought about or you're currently doing, but a lot of them are going to be things and actions that you probably have not even considered yet. I'm going to encourage you as an expert authority coach. I've been in media for many, many years, and I'm going to tell you, these are some things that you definitely want to start doing. I'm going to share my screen now with you, and you, you'll be able to see Here the top 10 things you should be doing to promote your business.
[00:00:56]: Tip number one, you want to define your target audience, who your ideal customers are or your clients and understand their needs. This is the number one most important tip. And many of my clients, people who begin working with me actually don't have this down. They kind of say, well, I. My target audience is everybody. I want to help everybody. And my ideal customer or client is everybody, because I really want to help everybody. Well, that's not going to work because it's like throwing pasta on the wall and hoping that it sticks.
[00:01:33]: You really need to know who your target audience or your target customer or client is. For me, my target audience are women in business. Okay. Age range, 45, 40 and up, about 44, 40 or 45 and up. And women in business who are overwhelmed with technology and basically have a great product or service. Let's say they're a coach or a consultant, but they just don't know how to get the word out on what it is that they do. They're suffering because they don't have enough clients, they don't have enough sales. And my job is to hone in on their superpower and make it known so that they can communicate what that superpower is with potential customers and clients.
[00:02:22]: And so this is the really, the most important thing. I focus on women in business through networking groups, through online chats, Facebook groups, you name it. But that is my target audience. And you really need to know this and understand this in order to expand your business and to get some sales. Tip number two, you want to develop a strong brand that can resonate with your target audience. So for me personally, because I am a coach, I am a media coach, and yes, I do help people create podcasts. That's my bread and butter, how to create a podcast and a YouTube channel. I know that my strong brand, my brand is actually me.
[00:03:05]: Are there other amazing people out there who can show you how to create? Are there companies that can create a podcast even for you? Yes. But there's no one like me. There's no one that has 25 plus years in the media industry, 20 of those in radio and broadcasting. So I've. I know something about the voice and how to connect with an audience using your voice. But my brand is me because of my unique personality. Also, my trademark is that I keep my coaching and my teaching simple, easy and fun. That's me.
[00:03:44]: I like, I like to learn things when it's simple and easy and fun. And my clients like it as well. Because when we're done with a session, every single time, I have smiling clients that are so happy that I kept it simple for them. Because also my belief is that if you keep it simple and easy and fun, people will learn. They'll apply what they've learned to promoting their business and bingo bongo, they have success. And if you have small successes, you'll keep doing it and you get bigger successes and you keep going with it. So it's a great way for people to learn and to actually implement those. Those teachings and the coaching that I give them, they can put it into action.
[00:04:29]: So that's my brand. My brand is simple, easy, and fun. And also it's about me and my face. I'll show you something here. I do this in the branding. So I showed you a little bit here. Let me go to Stop screen share here so you can see. So this book pod your way to success.
[00:04:48]: I needed to come up with a cover for this book on how to use podcasting to market your business. And I did a search on Amazon and I noticed that all of the books on podcasting, and I mean all of them just had a photo of a microphone or a microphone and headphones. That was it. There was no pictures of any humans. It was as if there was no humans that wrote books about podcasting. So luckily, I had a great photo shoot with a woman here in Australia who took this picture of me. I needed props because I can't just stand there with no props and just go, hi. So I needed my props.
[00:05:29]: I'm all about radio broadcasting, podcasting, YouTube. So I said, I need to have my headphones and I Need a microphone in the shot. Now if you look closely, you can't even see my eyes right, they're squinty. There's actually a lot of energy in this picture. And so I chose this photo to be on the COVID of the book because of that energy and because it's like you know that this person is obviously got a mic, they got headphones. It's probably about podcasting or radio or something. So this photo is the money shot for me. This has helped open doors.
[00:06:05]: I use it on my Media One sheet. This is also a Media One sheet that I send out to podcast hosts and radio hosts and producers. And this photo with the hot pink right to catch, catch your attention, that's what I put on the COVID of the book. I know that that energy will attract the people that I want. So think about developing a strong brand that can resonate with your target audience. Tip number three. Build an effective and user friendly website. Ah, this is a big one.
[00:06:41]: If you have a business and you do not have a website, you need one. And at the very least if you don't have a website, then you need a one page or a landing page or I also suggest for people who don't want to invest in creating a website or having someone build a website for them, if you want to do that landing page, that, that's important. But you can, it's so easy to do nowadays. There's so many easy ways for you to create a one or two page website. But I really, really encourage you because when you have a website that you can send people to and if it's branded like mine is, Christine Blasdale.com it reiterates your name, it gets your name out there. But more importantly, it's a place for people to find out more about your business. And, and I don't care if you have a pizza shop on the corner or if you're a coach, especially if you're a coach or a consultant, you have to have a website. But whatever business it is that you have, I highly encourage you to have a effective and user friendly website.
[00:07:48]: That means don't have a bunch of text. You know, if you're a graphic designer and it's all in text, if you're a website developer, your website better be like amazing because you're trying to get people to give you money so that you could create websites for them. And if yours is kind of schlocky and not that great, not a lot of bells and whistles, people are just not going to come knocking at Your door. So build an effective and user friendly website or at least have a landing page. Speaking of Google, you want to create number four, you want to create a Google My business page so people can find you. Google My business is so important and especially if you have a business that is a brick and mortar. In other words, you have a location, you have office hours, you have people coming to your business. If you're a massage therapist or you're a trainer, a physical fitness trainer, any of those type of businesses.
[00:08:44]: But even if you don't, even if you have a online business, having a Google my business page is really important so that people in that area can find you. Tip number five, utilize social media and engage with your audience on platforms. I spelled platforms wrong platforms. I was in a hurry. Engage with that on platforms relevant to your business. So I am, I have a love hate relationship with LinkedIn. Most of my target audience, my demographics that I work towards, towards getting to know are of course women in business. And yes, there's a lot of women in business on LinkedIn, but it's just not my cup of tea for whatever reason.
[00:09:28]: I find to get, I get more traction on Facebook a bit on Instagram and TikTok is just for fun. I use TikTok really just to, to get out there and to have fun. But I know that most of my clients are going to be on Facebook. So I'm going to focus on my Facebook groups that you can join. You can create a Facebook group, you can create a private Facebook group, you can create a public one. And that's where you want to engage with your audience. Let them get to know you and try not to just post things that are, you know, too salesy or sound like a pitch, a hard pitch. Give people information, inspire them, motivate them.
[00:10:05]: But start engaging on your social media, that's really important. Plus you can tell people when you've achieved greatness. You know, when you have a new book that's just come out, let your Facebook friends know about it and they'll be there to support you. All right, let's go on to tip number six. And that is going to be create valuable content like articles, podcast videos, etc. And share on your media assets. When I say media assets, I do mean social media, but I also mean YouTube. If you, if you have a email subscriber list, if you have a list of people that you can actually send an email blast to, share those videos, share those articles or those blogs with that group, I highly recommend, really, this is something that's super important is creating valuable content like a podcast or a YouTube channel that that's a way for you to get more people to see your work.
[00:11:08]: Podcasts are great because you can create your own podcast with your brand, promote your business, but do it in a. Do it in a nice way, almost said slick way, but do it in a way that is not sell, sell, sell, sell. Make sure that your podcast is providing some sort of information, education, inspiration, motivation, or it's entertaining and you can drop in there. Oh, by the way, I happen to be a blah blah, blah, blah and here's my website, blah blah blah blah.com and I would love to hear from you. If you have any questions, drop me a line. Those type of real quick, hey, this is who I am. This is how you can find out more. This is how you can support me.
[00:11:48]: Those type of messages, messaging moments are fine in a podcast, but just don't make the podcast all about sales and pitching people. You know, it's. It sounds desperate and you don't want to do that, but that's a very, very valuable piece of content. You can also be a guest on podcasts as well. And you can promote your book, you can promote courses, you can promote your services by being a guest on podcast. And if you're interested in that, by the way, either creating your very own podcast, which if you're a coach, consult. If you're a service provider of any merit, I highly recommend that you create your own podcast podcast. Your own branded podcast.
[00:12:30]: Tip number seven, Networking babe Network network. You know, if you're just sitting in your basement or your, your grandmother's, you know, spare bedroom, having your business, that's all cool, I understand that. I think that's great. You have the gusto to create your business. But if you're just staying at home and you're not out engaging with people, and I mean collaborating, doing co ventures, networking, meeting people, you're. You're really missing out on a lot of money and a lot of possibilities. The opportunities for you to get new clients and customers by networking, by going to live actual physical events, by doing networking online as well. I'm a member of two major online groups.
[00:13:21]: They're both international and I have one that's just women in business. And I have another one that are folks who want to do joint ventures and they're men and women but from all around the world. And the opportunities and the things that I have created and the clients that I have gotten from being a member of just those two online networking groups has Been phenomenal. So I want to encourage you. I'm also a member locally here of two women in business organizations that do actual physical meets, meet and greets, and we have dinner and we have a glass of wine and we talk about the work that we're doing and we get to meet and that's about once a month for those two groups. And it is, it is amazing. Again, I get so many referrals, I get co venture partners and I get to get new clients just from going out and talking to people. Promote your business on podcasts as a guest or host your very own.
[00:14:23]: Again, my number one most important part of this is you really should create your own podcast. And if you want to do it in 30 days or less, the simple, easy and fun way, I would be honored to be your coach on this. I do everything with you. I hold your hand through the whole process. I show you how to record, we create your cover art, your beautiful cover cover art that you're going to be promoting your podcast with so that people could click on it when they see you in Apple podcasts or Spotify. But also I show you how to create the video version of your podcast and how to edit it. So you're going to learn how to record, how to record video, how to edit and how to publish it on YouTube and also on all those major podcast platforms. Imagine having your show be on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Pandora, Google, Amazon, Audible, all those different platforms.
[00:15:21]: They know that podcasts are really hot right now. Same thing with YouTube. YouTube is pushing podcasts like crazy. And now is the time. It's not too late. Now is the time to create your own podcast and I would be honored to be the person to help you get there. All right, tip number nine, we're getting close to the end here. Ask for loyal customer and client testimonials and reviews.
[00:15:44]: Now, I mentioned earlier the importance of having a Google my business page and the importance of asking your wonderful clients and customers and students, asking them to post a five star review for you. That is extremely important. And I do have my clients do that. I ask that of them after we're done with a coaching session or a doing a series or a program. But another thing that you can ask them to do is to write, simply write something for that Google my business page. You can take what they've written and you can post that on your website. I always say with my clients, is it okay if I post your picture and maybe mention your business? Is it all right if I promote your business through a Web, you know, web link or something like that. They love that.
[00:16:35]: They're like, of course, yes, yes, yes. So I have on my website just so many testimonials and rave reviews from clients and people that I've worked with over the years. And it just makes your website, it expands your expert authority. It makes you not only in the eyes of someone who doesn't know you, more trustworthy, but they get to see that actually, you know what you're talking about, because all these people have rave reviews for the work that you do. I want you to think about this. Don't. You don't want to be telling people how great you are. You want other people to be telling those people, potential customers and clients, how great you are.
[00:17:19]: It's one thing for me to say I'm this, I'm that. I've got all this experience. I know you know how to create a podcast, like, with my eyes closed, I can do this and that. I have all these awards and. But it's another thing entirely when you have someone who has worked with you and who trusts you, and they can, in their own words, either have it written out or even better, have a video, Right? We all have cell phones, so it takes nothing for somebody who really got a lot out of your course or your class or your coaching to go on video and say, oh, my gosh, Christine was amazing. She changed my life. I am forever indebted to her. And I have to tell you, you need to call Christine.
[00:18:09]: You need to reach out to Christine right away because she can do so much for your business. Trust me, I know. She's amazing. That just took a few seconds. And if they can create a video for you like that on their phone, send it to you, you can post it on YouTube, you can put it on your website, you can. Can transcribe whatever it is that they said. Put that on your website as well. It's so powerful and it's so important, and I cannot stress to you how much impact that will have on a stranger who comes across your website or comes across your YouTube channel and goes, wow, this person is a real expert at what they're.
[00:18:46]: That what they're doing, I can trust them a little bit more because of these rave reviews. If you have no reviews and no testimonials on your website and you want. You want me to give you money to be my coach, you're going to have to do some slick convincing there, because I really only go with people who have those proven testimonials and reviews. Super important Tip number nine. Tip number ten. This is the last one. And this is really important for a lot of people because I've had so many clients come to me after years and years of them spending tens of thousands of dollars working with people that were not truly experts in their field. Or maybe they were really good at what they did, but they were not a good teacher.
[00:19:38]: They were not a really great coach or teacher. You know, you can listen, you can be a great writer and you write a best selling book. And yet when it comes time for you to communicate and talk about your expertise or your book, you may not be able to. I've run across people who cannot talk. They're great writers, but they can't talk. So the same thing is true. When you're thinking about expanding your business, promoting your business, you want to work with an expert in their field and you want to do it early on. I've got clients that have again spent tens of thousands of dollars, have been frustrated by the process because they thought that they were going to be getting guidance from someone and they were not an expert in their field.
[00:20:29]: So many people who start up a business within a few months, they quit. They just, because they, they just don't see any gains. And that doesn't have to be. You just need the tools, you know, you need to know how to promote it. You need to know how to create your brand, you need to know how to promote your business and communicate with potential customers and clients. You're not born with that skill. I, I have those skills because of all my many years, but it's, you know, it took me a long time to develop those. So make sure you go with someone who is definitely an expert.
[00:21:03]: And, and of course, as I mentioned earlier, if you want to talk about your business, how to create your expert authority, how to promote your business, how to make sure your website looks awesome and communicates, how to create branding videos, how to create videos so that you can communicate directly with your audience. I would love to talk with you. There's a QR code here. If you want to, you can scan that with your phone. You just open up your camera, scan that code and it, it will pull up a my booking page which is@chatwithcristineb.com and you can schedule a 30 minute free consultation with me. I record it for you so that you can stay focused and talk to me about your goals, what you want to do with your business, how long you've been doing it. And I will work with you on either creating your podcast, your YouTube channel, showing you how to create branding videos, promotional videos, how you can upgrade or up your website or your social media, anything to do with marketing your business, promoting your business, creating that excitement about what it is that you do, and getting you new clients and new customers. That's my passion and I would love to work with you.
[00:22:22]: That's how you can get in touch with me. That's how you can book a session, just go to chatwithcristineb.com or, or you can scan that QR code, or you can simply go to Christine Blasdell.com and check out my website and just take a look around, look at the testimonials and reviews. And I would be happy to, to meet with you and to go over your dreams and your goals for your business, because it's important. And I'll say this, in these times, in these crazy, crazy times, it is more important now. It is now more important than ever to be in control of your destiny, your future, your finances, your business. I'll say that once again, now is the time for you to take control of your finances, your destiny, your purpose, your passion in life. It is a critical moment in time. And you've always been dreaming about starting your business, but maybe have been a little too scared, a little too nervous, hesitant.
[00:23:24]: You have that imposter syndrome. You're scared. Please, please set up a session with me, a consultation with me. I would love to talk with you about your gifts, your talents and how you can market that and start creating income and bringing in income for you and your family so that you have that freedom. It's critically important. All right, that's it. I hope you enjoyed the presentation for today. And if, again, if you have any questions, just pop on over to my website, christineblasdell.com or go to chat with christineb.com if you want to have a conversation with me.
[00:24:01]: And I'd be happy to talk to you about your business. All right. I can't wait to meet you and I will talk to you very soon.
