01 Hello and welcome to how to quickly turn your expertise into a mini course without using AI, brought to you by me, Corinne from Marie Mae Design Company. Let's get started. So what you'll be learning today is how to reverse engineer your mini course topic without using AI. What to include in your mini course to set it up for success. And how to quickly put your mini course together so you can get it out into the world to to help the people that it's meant to help.  So why should you listen to me? That is an excellent question. So to reintroduce myself, my name is Corinne and I've spent the last 20 years being a serial course creator. So that started as a corporate trainer. For many, many years I worked as a corporate trainer and helped hundreds of big businesses build successful courses for their specific area of expertise. And then one day I decided I didn't want to work with the big businesses anymore. I wanted to start showing how. Small business owners how they too can quickly and easily turn their expertise into a course with impact. Because chances are you've started your business. To impact as many people as possible and a course can be a great way to do that. So I wanted to show small business owners how they could do that. And so I took all of my years of corporate trainer knowledge and I now share all of my best course design tips and tricks through my business, Marie Mae Design.

28 You're in the right place today if you know you could help so many more people, if you could work out how to share your expertise in bulk. So you might be working with a one on one model right now. And. You know you could help so many more people if you could just transfer that into one to many. And share it with more people. More quickly. Or you might feel like a good next step for your business is a mini course. But you've been hesitating because you don't want to build it with AI. So again, I'm not here to debate the ethics of AI with you or whether you should or shouldn't use AI. I don't use it. I know a lot of people that prefer not to use it. And so I wanted to take this opportunity. To show people. How they can build it with AI without AI. If that's something. That you prefer to do. If you're happy using AI. That's your thing. Please continue to do it. This is probably not the right presentation for you.  Or you might think that you're ready to build. A big signature program style course, but you've never done it before and you Want to test the waters with a mini course. To see if it's the right fit for you.

39 And that's really important because a lot of people feel like the next logical step. Is a course or a group program. And then. They don't find it as fulfilling. As the one on one work that they were doing.    02:52 And that could be because of how the course structure set up, or it could be that they just don't enjoy the parts of running a course. Like the teaching and not having  As much interaction with a student. So. It's. This is a mini course is a good way to see if one, you like the actual setup part of it and two, you like the delivery part of it as well. Even though there's lots of different styles of of courses out there, you can still have a lot of interaction as a course. But it's good to know whether it is something that you enjoy doing. And a mini course is a good way to do that. It's also a good way to test. If you even need to create a big signature program style course. It might be that you're better off sending up a membership that has lots of mini courses within it. And so you can just give people the mini courses on. How to solve. The particular problem that they're after.

44 In little, in little bits and pieces so that you can send them directly to the solution to that problem. Rather than having to go through a big signature style kind of program to get to the outcome that they're looking for.  So why mini course? Because mini courses give quick wins. That's the whole point of a mini course. So if you're not 100% sure what a mini course is, you've just heard the terminology out there.  A lot. Especially it's been out there a lot recently. The whole point of a mini course is it gives a quick win. It's something that someone should be able to do within an hour or so. Definitely in a couple of hours. It shouldn't be any longer than an afternoon. They should just be able to give to go through that course quickly and get a quick win. And quick wins are the fastest and easiest way to show your potential clients that not only do you understand the problem that they're trying to fix. But that you have the exact expertise that they need to actually solve it. Because if they can go through this mini course and get that quick win. Then they're going to be like, oh, wow, this person knows exactly what I'm feeling, exactly what I'm going through. What else can they show me? What else can they help me solve?  Because the whole point of a quick win. Is to give someone. Just a taste of the whole bigger solution that they might be looking for.    So they still have a quick win. And after that quick win, they might go on and do what they want to do themselves.    But.

15 It usually is just the first step. In order to get to the next step to solve the bigger problem that they're having. It just gives them a quick win. To get them started. So I am going to quickly touch on. Why you might want to build your mini course without AI. Again, this isn't The presentation for a debate on whether you should or shouldn't use AI Just pointing out some reasons, with my background as a corporate trainer for 20 or so years That why you might want to consider building it without AI And one reason is you know Yourself what problem you solve You know what your level of expertise is and what it is that you want to share with the world You might not feel like you know how to clarify that exactly, but you know what What it is You know what the first step is that someone needs to take in order to solve the bigger problem.

11 It might be that this is something that you've been coaching people on. It might be something that you've been helping people in, in your personal life and now you want to see if you can monetize. Might be just something that you've solved in your own life that you'd love to share with other people. You know what that problem is that you want to solve. You've probably had this idea for a course in your head for a little while And you know what Expertise you're at in order to be able to work out what it is that you want to share with the world And people will feel that in your mini course People will feel if this is coming from someone who knows what they're talking about and has experienced this themselves or has helped people With this experience Get to the outcome that they're wanting to get to They will feel that Rather than something that's been written on technology and there's plenty of studies out there now to actually showcase that Secondly, it can be more time consuming using AI to build a mini course. And again, there's arguments for both sides out here Out in the world I'm just giving you my expertise Here We're building a mini course We're building something that someone should be able to complete Within an hourTwo at the most It shouldn't take you six years to build something.

30 That someone's only going to Take In an hour It can be more time consuming for you to go back and forth with AI to build your mini course than it would be to just sit down and brainstorm Using The problem that you know you want to solve, that you've helped people solve, or whether it's professionally or not, and what your level of expertise is in relation to that problem In order to be able to put that mini course together  Because remember, a mini course is designed for a quick win, so only requires two to three steps at the most And it's usually someone starting from the very beginning of their problem. It's not the overall arching big problem that they might be having It's a snippet of that problem So, for example  My business is helping people create courses with impact But We don't need to solve that immediately The initial problem we want to solve is do you want to run a course at all? How do I help people solve that? By helping them build a little mini course so they get a taste of what it is. Hence why this presentation's happening today So again, it's looking at the bigger picture.

46 And what tiny little quick win you can give somebody That gives you a taste of whether you want to do mini courses moving forward, whether that's something you enjoy, whether it's going to help And Being able to put that together quickly, which, like I said, can be more time consuming going backwards and forwards with AI Than it would be to just brainstorm these couple of steps that you need to solve The first stepIn a series of Steps that people will have to take eventually To solve their bigger problem Thirdly, AI isn't very good at nuance And so what it thinks the two to three steps required to achieve a quick win Is quite often not actually the right steps More often than not, it will assume a level of knowledge as a starting point that just isn't there And it's because it's accumulated all this knowledge from all everything that's out in the world, all the data that it's scraped And it will come back with A particular level of knowledge That people usually don't have. It's assuming that people have this level of knowledge. And you might not even realize that this is what it's doing That people don't have. And again, this is where it comes back to you and your expertise, because you know where you started.

02 If you're basing your business on a problem you've solved for yourself, you know where your clients start If it's a problem that you're helping them with And soYou know where the actual starting point is and you know that there's a level of knowledge that's missing there That AI may assume that they already have And so you're building a mini course presuming that people know A, B and C So it started them at D when really what they're trying to learn is A So that's something to consider as well. And that just again comes with more of your real world experienceIn whatever problem it is that you are trying to solve. So how do you reverse engineer your mini course topic without using AI? So like I was saying, you focus on a single outcome. What problem is it that you solve? So it might be a big picture problem to start with What is the very first step that someone needs to take to fix this issue? So again, for example, for me, my business is teaching people how to create courses.

08 From their level of expertiseBut the first problem that they really want to solve Is is this going to work for my business? Am I going to enjoy it So to do that, I help people create a course roadmap or a mini course Because I'm solving the very first step If you're teaching people how toGrow vegetables The first problem isn't necessarily How to actually grow the vegetables themselves It might be picking what kind of vegetables It might be Working out what vegetables will grow in your area It might be working out whether they actually want to grow vegetables or not or what kind of vegetables. And it Again, it's Working out what. And The very Simple first step is Someone needs to take to fix the issue Not the overall big picture steps that they're going to take to eventually get to their full outcome It's what's the very first step that someone needs to take And how is your mini course going to solve that? That's how you reverse engineer your mini course topic. Start at the end and work backwards.

23 How do you want someone to feel when they achieve the single outcome your mini course will guide them to? That's important as well Because it's not just important for people To actually achieve their quick win. It's also how they feel When they Achieve their quick win Are they going to feel empowered? Are they going to feel like they've achieved something? Are they going to feel like, oh yes, I can do this What's the next thing I need to learn? Because obviously with a mini course, chances are you're trying to get them either to another mini course or into your bigger course or to your one on one coaching or to your  Membership. There's usually an outcome that you want as well from your mini course.  So how do you want them to feel. Empowered, like they've achieved something, like they've learned something, like, wow, I didn't know it could be this easy. What's the next thing I need to do?

20 So once you've worked out those two things. What are the next two or three steps? What are the two or three steps that you can show someone. That can quickly get to get them to this outcome? So again, for example, if we use the mini course. As an example here, I've just sent you sample twice. The easiest. The two or three steps that. Someone needs to take in order to create the mini course is, is one, reverse engineering the mini course topic. Two, working out what the two to three steps are based on the outcome. And three. Creating that course. Creating the mini course. So this is exactly what I'm taking you through. Again, if we use the growing vegetables as an example. Then it might be that the two or three steps that they need to do is. Find out how. What the soil. Type of soil they have in the area.

14 Find out what resources they have in the area in terms of growing vegetables. It could be anything like that. If you teach people how to crochet, for example.  It could be as simple as. What are the crochet hooks that you need to pick? What's good yarn, how to hold the yarn? What are the two or three things that you can show someone. That will quickly get them to the single outcome? And you don't want it to be more than that because remember, this is a mini course. You want to get them to that quick win. As quickly as possible with the least amount of steps possible. To show them. Okay, yes, they can do this. It's a quick win.  So keep it simple, super simple. All you need for this is the expertise you already have and a pen and a piece of paper. Remember, this is all about quick wins. So you just need to brainstorm all of this and write this down. Focus on your single. Outcome. What problem do you solve? What's the first step that someone needs to take to that issue? And what are the how do you break that down into two or three steps that you can show someone how to do that you can guide them through.

19 So a quick review, focus on a single outcome and a quick win. How will the quick win then make them feel? Because you want to make sure it makes them feel like they can continue on. And what are the two to three steps to the quick win? So what to include in Your mini course to set it up for success. So the first thing is a roadmap outlined in the two to three steps of the quick win outcome.  Because this gives them a timeline and milestones. And if people have a timeline and milestones. They will feel way more confident about achieving this outcome than without it. Because they'll be able to see, okay, it's going to take me this long, it's going to take me this many steps, and I'm going to know these two or three things by the time I get to the end. Yes, I can do this. Sign me up. You also want to have a reminder about why you are the best person.

15 To guide them through the steps that they need to take to solve their problem. So at the beginning I introduce myself to you and let you know about my background. In. Creating courses. I've got. 20 years experience doing it, so I can pull on all of that to give you this information. So you want to give them a little reminder too about why you are the best person to guide them through this. That could be how you've achieved the same thing or how you've helped other people achieve achieve the same thing. Again, it gives them confidence. It gets them feeling confident. It gets them feeling like, yes, I can do this. Oh, wow, yes, I've seen this person has helped other people. They sound like they know what they're talking about. Then you also want to make sure that you've got the reasons why these two to three steps will get them their quick win outcome and solve that. They're your immediate problem.  And sometimes it might not be a problem they're aware that they've got. Because again, if you go back to the growing vegetables example. They might want to just rush out and buy all the seeds and things that they need.  But what's the point of doing that if they don't know whether those seeds are going to grow in their soil or they've got the wrong time of year, or it's going to take them a year or two to grow the crops. So it's things like that that what are the reasons why.

29 These two or three steps will get them to the quick win outcome and solve their immediate problem? Because that's the reasons why you chose these two to three steps.  And it's showing them that, yes, these are the important steps that why it should could be that you've seen other things elsewhere. But these are the two to three steps that you know will get them to the outcome. And this is the reason why these steps will get them there. And then you need something tangible to guide them through the two to three steps of their Quick win. So it could be a workbook, a checklist, it could be videos, it could be anything that's tangible. That. Will guide them through.

07 These two to three steps through the roadmap you've created to get them to the quick Win outcome. So to recap, that's your expertise, showing them how to do this thing. Plus a visual guide to the quick Win outcome. Equals a mini course set up for success. And to help you with that, I do have a little freebie for you. As part of today's presentation. I've created a mini course workbook for you. So a mini course workbook can a template. That if you decide you want a workbook to be the tangible thing for someone to work through. To get to. The quick Win outcome. Then this mini course workbook will help you put all that information together for you. Into the tangible thing that you can share with your.  Potential clients. And you can download it. It is part of the Summit Swag bag. You can also use the QR code to download it, or just type the.   Web. Address. The link into your web browser and that will get you where you want to go. And so lastly, how to quickly put your mini course together to get it out in the world. Because obviously the point of doing all this is to get it out into the world.

19 So again, you want to keep it super simple. You've done most of the work already. With the previous two steps by working out what your topic's going to be because you've reverse engineered it. From. This, the Quick win outcome that you're going to give somebody for that very first step that they need to take to solve their big picture problem. And the two to three steps that are going to get them there. So now you've got those things again, it's just about now keeping it super simple. So remember, like I said, this is about giving them a quick win. So your mini course should have two to three modules at the most to go with the two to three steps that you've got Then you need to decide how you're going to deliver it. So do you want to put it onto a course platform? And there are free course platforms out there. If you don't want to pay for one. You could use. System, for example, or payhip's got a fantastic.  Free course platform that you could use as well. So you could put it up on a course platform if you wanted to. Or you might decide you want to deliver it via email. Challenge or masterclass. So again, this is going to come down to you.

26 Into what is something that you can set up quickly and easily. So if you don't want to worry about learning a course platform, it might be that you decide to do it via email challenge because you know how to use your email platform. Or you might just want to put it together in a quick one hour masterclass and not worry about breaking everything down into modules. As long as you cover your two to three steps. And then what you want to do is also make the tangible part that we talked about in the previous step. So your workbook, your guide, your checklist, your videos, whatever you're going to use. Easily accessible. And if it's something like a workbook that they only have to download once.

04 So if you decide you're going to have like a three day email challenge. And you're going to email your potential clients.  Every day for three days with the step they need to take that day. I would recommend that you still only have one workbook. That they only have to download once. Because if people have to download a new workbook every day They kind of get annoyed quickly and might opt themselves out of it. Whereas if they can download the whole workbook on day one or even prior to. Day one of your challenge. Then they've got it all there handy and they can work through it at their own pace when they're ready to go.  So depending on how you want to deliver it, you do want to make the tangible part. The workbook, guide. Checklist, whatever it is. Easily accessible and downloadable ones. And that makes it easier for you, and it makes it easier for them. You've done all the brainstorming in the previous two steps, so now all it is in this step now is about bringing it together in a cohesive package. Following a road, like your course roadmap that you've lined up. That's how you can work out what modules you need. And then it's simply then uploading it to your course platform. Or. Working out how you're delivering it. It might be an hour masterclass that you put on YouTube and you can put it on YouTube unlisted, record it simply through Canva, which is what I'm doing now to record this presentation.

26 I created my slides in Canva and I've just gone and recorded them in Canva. You might just want to use your email marketing software that you've already got to.  Do a scheduled out.  Email challenge. So it's whatever way you're going to deliver it. Or like I said you might decide you want to put it on a course platform.  And it might just be a free one you want to trial out. So whether that's something like System or you might have already paid for Heartbeat or Teachery or something like that, or Payhip or. Something, that's not going to cost you. A lot of money to start with. That's how you can quickly get it out there. Keep it simple for you as well, because keeping it simple for you is going to keep it simple for your client, which keeps it to a mini course. Remember, you want them to be able to achieve this in two to three steps. In about an hour or so. And so you need to keep it. Simple as well. The delivery part of it simple, putting it together.  Keeping it simple. You don't need a 49 page workbook to go with it. You just need something that gives them the bare minimum information that they need.

29 To get to do the two to three steps to get their quick win outcome. So again, to recap that step, what is the shortest route to the. Quick win? How are you going to deliver your mini course. And make the tangible part of it easily accessible?  So to go over everything we've learned today, you've learned how to reverse engineer your mini course topic without using AI. You've learned what to include in your mini course to set it up for success.  And how to quickly put your mini course together to get it out into the world as quickly as possible.

07 Thank you for watching. Thank you so much for being here today. I hope that this. Presentation has helped you and that you feel ready to start planning and releasing your mini course now. If you'd like to keep in touch, you can find me at Instagram at Marie Mae Design Co or email. At hello Marie Mae design.com on my website. Mariemadesign.com I would love to hear all about how what mini course you've put together.  Happy planning.
